Deckerhütte
2.5About
The hut is managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and holds around 40 guests. It's a working farm building with simple rooms, mostly dormitory beds. Meals focus on hearty fare—expect good schnitzel and substantial soups. Water comes from the mountain; power is basic. The hut operates year-round but staffing varies. Call ahead in shoulder seasons and winter. Showers are available but warm water isn't guaranteed outside summer.
Book directly with the hut 4-6 weeks ahead for July and August. May through October is the reliable hiking season; winter access depends on snow conditions and your avalanche competence. The hut accepts cash and card payments. Phone ahead before arriving in winter—the farm operation means staff schedules can shift. Dienten village has a small shop but bring sufficient supplies and cash as backup.
