Wintertalerhütte
2.5About
The hut is managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and operates year-round, with restricted winter services from November to April. It sleeps roughly 50 people across dormitory and double rooms. Half-board (dinner and breakfast) is standard. The kitchen produces decent food; bring cash as card payment is unreliable. Toilets are basic but clean. There's no shower. Mobile signal is poor but WiFi works inconsistently. The hut is family-friendly and sits in quieter terrain than the crowded Tennengebirge to the north.
Book directly with the hut by phone or email—online booking isn't available. Contact details are on the OeAV website. July and August fill quickly; aim to book 4-6 weeks ahead. Weekends throughout summer are busy. The hut quiets considerably in June and September, when conditions are still reliable.
