Glettenalm
2.9About
The hut is managed by the Salzburg branch of the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV). It has 50 beds in simple dormitory and small private rooms. The kitchen serves hearty alpine food: schnitzel, speck and spätzle, vegetable soups, and fresh bread. Water comes from a spring. There is no electricity or wi-fi. The hut operates year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions—ring ahead if you're visiting November to April. Toilets are outside; washing facilities are cold mountain water.
Book direct with the hut keeper by phone or post (no online booking system). July and August fill 4-6 weeks ahead, particularly Thursday to Sunday. June, September and early October are quieter but still reliable. Winter weekends attract Munich-based hikers; reserve well ahead. Arrive early in the day; the hut does not hold unreserved beds after 16:00. Bring cash—card payments are unreliable at this altitude and distance.
