Ingolstädter Haus

Ingolstädter Haus sits at 2,119m in the Berchtesgaden Alps, on the eastern edge of the Salzburg region near the Bavarian border. Reach it from Berchtesgaden by hiking via Wimbach Klamm and Wimbachgrün in 4–5 hours. The approach follows a well-marked trail through forest and alpine meadow, gaining 1,300m elevation. Alternatively, approach from the Austrian side via Ramsau or use the Wimbach Klamm route, which combines hiking with spectacular gorge scenery. The hut works as a base for summits including Hochkalter (2,607m) and Hochkönig (2,941m), or as a stage on longer traverses.
The DAV Sektion Ingolstadt manages the hut, which has 40 beds in mixed dormitories. Half-board (dinner and breakfast) is standard. Showers are available. No WiFi. The kitchen serves hearty Alpine fare; bring a headtorch for the common areas. The hut operates year-round but check ahead for winter closures. Summer months (June–September) are busiest. Spring and autumn offer quieter climbing and hiking.

Smaller groups and weekday visits typically find availability with shorter notice. The hut does not accept online booking through a website; phone contact is essential.
