About
This OeAV-managed hut offers 70 bed places in mixed dormitory rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Austrian meals at lunch and dinner; book meals when you reserve beds. Water is from a spring. The hut operates year-round but is less reliably staffed in winter—contact ahead if visiting November through March. Simple facilities: no showers, basic toilets, no electricity in rooms. The hut works well as a base for day walks across the Tennengebirge plateau or as a one-night stop on longer ridge traverses toward Höherbretter or Hochkönig.
Book beds directly with the hut by phone or email. July and August fill by mid-June, especially weekends. June, September, and October are less crowded and often quieter. The hut is quiet through winter. Groups should contact the warden well ahead. Access roads to the Strub valley remain open year-round, though snow can make the final approach slower in winter.
