The Simeterhütte sits at 1,511m in the Salzburg limestone Alps, on the eastern flank of the Tennengebirge. Reach it from Annaberg via the Reiterjoch track—count 2.5 hours uphill through beech forest. From Adnet in the valley, allow 3 hours on a steeper route that climbs 800m. The hut marks a natural stop for walkers crossing the Tennengebirge or circling the massif. Most visitors approach from the north via Golling or Adnet; the southern approach from Abtenau takes longer but avoids crowds.
The hut has 45 beds in single and double rooms, all with washbasins. The two-course evening meal includes soup, main, and salad; breakfast is a self-service buffet. The kitchen can handle vegetarian requests with notice. There is no shower, only washrooms. The Simeterhütte is managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and operates year-round, though winter weekends fill fast and mid-week availability is common.
