Häuslalm Hut

Häuslalm Hütte sits at 1,526m in the Styrian Alps, accessed via hiking from the Pöls valley. The approach takes 2–2.5 hours on a well-marked trail through mixed forest and alpine pasture. The hut lies on the southern flank of the Hochstuhl massif and works as a base for day walks across the surrounding ridges and peaks. Most visitors approach from the parking area at Pöls and follow the marked trail steadily upward; the route is straightforward but gains 700m of elevation.
The hut holds 16 beds in simple rooms and serves meals to overnight guests and day visitors. Facilities include flush toilets and basic heating. Opening dates vary by season—check ahead before visiting in spring or autumn. The hut is typically staffed during summer months (June to September) and operates weekends in shoulder season. Water comes from a spring; the hut uses wood heating and small-scale renewable infrastructure.
Book by email or phone at least 2–3 weeks ahead in July and August. The hut fills quickly on weekends during July and August when the weather is reliable for longer multi-day trips across the region.
