Hofalm

Hofalm sits at 1,335m in the Fischbach valley east of Sölden, deep in the Ötztal region of Styria. Reach it from the village of Fischbach on foot in 1.5 hours via a steady forest trail. The hut is also accessible by mountain bike from Sölden (allow 2.5 hours). This is valley-floor hiking, not a high-altitude objective—the surrounding peaks rise to around 2,500m but the hut itself offers a low-stress base for day walks and bike routes through the upper Ötztal.
Hofalm is a traditional alpine farm with accommodation for 30-40 guests. Meals focus on Tyrolean cooking: schnitzel, Erdäpfelpuffer, and good soups. The hut operates seasonally, typically May through October. Facilities include basic dormitory and double rooms, a dining hall, and a small bar. Showers are available. This is pastoral Austria, not a slick mountain lodge—expect simplicity and solid hospitality.
Book directly by phone or email in advance. July and August fill quickly; aim to confirm accommodation at least 4 weeks ahead for summer weekends. Winter closing means no service from November onwards. The hut welcomes hikers and cyclists equally and serves as a convenient overnight stop for longer valley traverses through the Ötztal.
