The Rohrauerhaus sits at about 1,308 m on the northern side of the Haller Mauern, a rugged limestone subgroup of the Ennstaler Alpen above Spital am Pyhrn, near the Bosruck and Großer Pyhrgas at the Upper Austria–Styria border. It is a Nature Friends hut, owned and run by Naturfreunde Österreich, Ortsgruppe Linz, and is popular as a family-friendly base in the Pyhrn-Priel area on the southern edge of the Kalkalpen National Park. The hut offers roughly 26 beds and 23 dormitory (Matratzenlager) places. It was the first alpine hut in Upper Austria to earn the Austrian Ecolabel (Umweltzeichen) and is valued for its quiet, dark-sky setting; it celebrated its centenary in 2025. The summer season runs from about May to the end of October, with limited winter opening by reservation for larger groups, and the hut is closed on Mondays. The easiest approach is a short walk up from the Bosruckhütte parking area; a longer, more scenic route climbs through the Dr.-Vogelgesang-Klamm gorge from Spital am Pyhrn, and the hut can also be reached from the Styrian side near Admont. From the hut, secured routes lead onward to the Großer Pyhrgas and the Bosruck.
