Rohrauerhaus

Rohrauerhaus sits at 1,310m in the Fischbacher Alpen, accessible from multiple valley starts in Styria. The standard approach is from Bruck an der Mur via the Rohrauer Valley, a steady 3-hour hike that gains 750m. You can also reach it from Bad Brunnsee to the south or connect via ridge walks to neighbouring huts. The location works well as a base for day hikes into the surrounding limestone peaks or as a mid-point on longer traverses through the range.
The hut is run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and offers around 40 beds in mixed and private rooms. Meals are available daily: hearty Austrian fare at dinner, simple breakfast options. The kitchen can handle dietary requests if you notify them in advance. Water comes from a spring. The hut operates year-round but staff presence varies in winter, so confirm opening dates before visiting. Summer months attract regular weekend traffic but weekday visits stay quieter.
Book directly by email or phone at least two weeks ahead for weekends, longer for July and August. The hut prefers advance notice for groups of six or more. Half-board (bed and dinner) is standard; breakfast and packed lunch add modest supplements. Payment is cash or bank transfer—confirm current methods when you book.
