Karl-Ludwig-Haus

The Karl-Ludwig-Haus sits at 1804m in the Styrian Alps, serving as a base for ridge walking and peak bagging in the region. You reach it from the Stubalpe area via marked trails—expect 2–3 hours hiking depending on your starting point. The hut works as a day destination for local hikers or an overnight stop on longer tours through central Styria. Summer access is straightforward; winter approaches depend on snow cover and avalanche conditions.

The OeTK-managed hut has 30 beds split across dormitory and small private rooms. They serve a hot evening meal and a basic breakfast. The tap water is reliable, and the kitchen is available to guests bringing their own food. Toilets and washing facilities are standard Alpine hut standard—no showers. The hut opens year-round, though staffing and services are limited outside the main season (May–October). Stock supplies before arriving; the nearest village shops are 90 minutes' walk downhill.
