Steinfeldhütte
2.5About
The hut offers dormitory beds and some private rooms, with space for around 40 guests. Meals are available for residents. The SAC/OeAV run the hut and it operates year-round, though conditions in winter demand mountain sense. Staff speak German primarily; English is limited. The valley gets snow but the trails remain accessible to experienced winter hikers with proper equipment.
Book direct with the hut or contact the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) via their website. July and August need advance booking—aim for at least 4 weeks ahead. May to October is the reliable season for casual hikers. Winter bookings can often be arranged with shorter notice since demand drops, but verify trail conditions before committing.
