Bettelwurfhütte

Bettelwurfhütte sits at 2,077m on the Bettelwurf massif above the Ötztal, roughly 2.5 hours' walk from Längenfeld. The approach trail climbs steadily through forest before breaking into open alpine terrain with views across the valley. Most hikers start from Längenfeld village and follow the marked path via Spiraling or the direct route through the Piburg area—both well-established and straightforward. The hut works as a base for day walks on the surrounding ridges or as a waypoint on longer Ötztal traverses.
The OeAV Sektion Innsbruck runs a simple, solid mountain hut with 50 beds across mixed dormitories and a few doubles. Meals are straightforward: hearty evening soup, hot plates, and basic breakfast. The hut stocks bottled water and beer, and there's a small drying room for wet gear. Water comes from a spring nearby. The hut opens mid-June through September, with variable opening dates depending on snow melt and staffing. Phone ahead if you're planning an early-season visit.
Book directly by phone to confirm space, especially for weekends and July through August. Weekday slots are usually available on shorter notice. The hut fills quickly for summer Saturdays, so contact them at least one week ahead for peak season. Aim for two weeks' notice if you're coming mid-July. Overnight rates run around €25–35 including dinner and breakfast.
