Hallerangerhaus

Hallerangerhaus sits at 1768m on the Halleranger, a ridge walk between the Zillertal and Ötztal valleys in Tyrol. Most hikers reach it from Finkenberg in the Zillertal, a 2–2.5 hour climb gaining roughly 700m on a well-marked path. The ridge itself offers straightforward walking with views across both valleys and toward the main Zillertal peaks. You can also approach from the Ötztal side, though this is longer and less common.

The DAV Sektion Schwaben manages this simple mountain hut with 30 beds split between dormitory and smaller shared rooms. Meals are basic but adequate: half or full board with fresh bread and coffee for breakfast, hearty Tyrolean dishes for dinner. Water is from a spring. There's no shower. The hut stays open June through September, though weather and snow coverage can shift these dates in marginal years. It's an ideal base for multi-day ridge traverses or as a stop on longer Zillertal-to-Ötztal crossings.

Book directly by email or phone—there's no online system. Contact the hut keeper from April onwards for July and August weekends, as capacity fills quickly. Weekday slots in June and September are easier to secure. Phone ahead to confirm water availability and exact opening dates in shoulder season. Half-board costs roughly €55–65 per person per night.
