Bleier-Hut

Bleier-Hütte sits at 2,584m in the Zillertal Alps, east of the Zillertaler Hochstraße road. The standard approach is from Mayerhofen via the Horberg Alm trail, taking 4–4.5 hours. You can also approach from the Zamser Grund valley to the southeast in roughly the same time. The hut serves as a base for scrambles and peaks including the Hochfeiler (3,510m) and routes onto the Zillertal ridge.
The OeAV-managed hut has capacity for around 80 guests across dormitories and private rooms. Half-board (dinner, breakfast, packed lunch) is standard. The kitchen handles dietary requirements if you notify them when booking. Facilities include a drying room, which matters in the Zillertal weather. The hut opens from June through September; winter opening depends on snow conditions. Mobile reception is poor to nonexistent.
Book directly with the hut from January onwards for July and August weekends. Weekdays are quieter. Expect the hut to be full on summer Fridays and Saturdays, and plan flexibility if you're visiting in July. Contact via post or phone—the hut's website has limited English, but staff speak German and basic English. In early season (June) and late season (September), you may walk on without advance booking, but a call ahead prevents disappointment.
