Deindlhütte

The Deindlhütte sits at 1050m in the Zillertal valley of Tirol, Austria, on the hiking route between Mayrhofen and the Ziller River watershed. You can reach it from Mayrhofen town center in 90 minutes via the marked trail through mixed forest and alpine meadow. The hut works as a base for day hikes into the Zillertal and starting point for longer routes toward the Floiten Alm and ridges above the valley floor.
The hut operates year-round and serves straightforward Tyrolean food—schnitzel, spaetzle, seasonal game—with a small dorm sleeping about 20 people and a handful of private rooms. The terrace faces west across the valley. Water comes directly from mountain springs. Most hikers stop here as a lunch point on valley traverses rather than overnight; the kitchen handles large groups if you book ahead. Facilities are basic: no shower, toilets only.
Book directly through the hut. Phone ahead if you're arriving with a group or need a specific meal prepared, especially on weekends when local families visit from the valley. July and August weekends see regular day-tripper traffic but overnight stays remain uncommitted enough that same-day arrival usually works. Winter access depends on snow conditions—confirm before heading up.
