Coburger Hut

Coburger Hütte sits at 1927m in the Stubaier Alps, above the Elfertal valley in Tyrol. Reach it from the village of Neustift im Stubaital by hiking up the Elfertal for roughly 3 hours. The trail is steep but well-marked, gaining about 900m elevation. You can also approach from the Habicht valley if you're coming from the Ötztal side—allow 4 to 5 hours from there. The hut works as a base for day hikes on the surrounding 3000m peaks or as a stop on longer ridge traverses.
The DAV Sektion Coburg operates this 80-bed hut with comfortable two- to six-bed rooms. Half-board meals are available, with decent cooking that covers standard Alpine fare. The hut has running water, heating, and a small common room. It's open year-round, though some winters bring limited staffing—check ahead if visiting between November and April. You can camp outside during summer if the hut is full.

The hut fills quickly on weekends during summer, but midweek slots often have space. Parties of 10 or more should contact the warden directly to arrange group rates.
