Lehnberghaus

Lehnberghaus sits at 1,554m on the eastern flank of the Lehnberg, above the Ötztal valley in Tyrol. Reach it from Längenfeld (820m) via a steep hiking path that takes 2.5 to 3 hours. The route climbs through mixed forest and alpine meadow, gaining 734m elevation. Winter access is possible but depends on snow conditions; contact the hut before attempting the approach in cold months. The hut also serves as a base for day walks across the surrounding meadows and approaches to higher peaks in the Ötz range.
Lehnberghaus is a modest mountain inn run by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV). It has 25 beds across simple rooms. Meals focus on hearty Tyrolean food. The hut operates year-round, though staff availability varies outside summer months. A small shop stocks basic supplies. The bar and dining room are social spaces where other hikers gather in the evening. Facilities include running water and basic toilets; there is no shower. The hut lacks electricity in some sections.
Book directly by telephone or email at least 2 weeks ahead for weekends from June to September. July and August are busy; aim for 4 weeks' notice in peak season. The hut accepts cash and bank transfer. Half-board (bed, breakfast, dinner) is the standard arrangement. Check opening dates before winter visits, as reduced staffing can mean shorter hours or temporary closure.
