Gasthaus Steinberg

Gasthaus Steinberg sits at 880m in the Ötztal, a major valley running south from the Ötztal entry point near Ötztal-Bahnhof. The hut serves as a base for day hikes across the surrounding Ötztal range and is easily accessible by road—most visitors drive or take the valley bus to reach it. Walking approaches are possible from neighbouring valleys, though distances vary depending on your starting point.

The gasthaus holds 54 beds across multiple rooms and serves as both a mountain inn and a proper staging point for Alpine walking. They offer half-board (dinner and breakfast included), à la carte meals in the restaurant, and provide packed lunches on request. The hut stays open year-round, making it usable for winter walking and snowshoe routes as well as summer hiking. Basic facilities include showers and a drying room for wet gear.

Book by phone directly with the hut for availability, especially for weekends and July–August when the Ötztal sees heavy visitor traffic. The facility fills quickly during school holidays and fine-weather weekends. Winter bookings are generally easier to arrange. Contact them at least two weeks ahead for summer dates, longer if you need specific room configurations or have large groups.
