About

Notraum sits at 2,182m on the Pflüdererjoch, a high pass between the Zillertal and Stubaital valleys in the Zillertal Alps. Reach it in 3.5 hours from Finkenberg by trail via Finberg and the Finkenberger Scharte. The hut marks the junction of several demanding ridge traverses and is a sensible base for climbs into the surrounding peaks. Most parties use it as a waypoint on longer alpine tours rather than a destination hut.
The OeAV-managed hut sleeps 40 in dormitories and private rooms. Half-board is standard. The kitchen serves simple, hearty food. Water and power are generated on-site. Toilet facilities are basic but clean. Opening runs from mid-June to late September, weather permitting. Winter access is impossible due to avalanche terrain and exposure on the final approach. The hut stays closed from October to May.
Book from April onwards if you're planning a July or August visit. Contact the OeAV directly or use their online system. July and August fill quickly. June and September are quieter but expect storms and snow at elevation. Bring a headtorch and warm layers regardless of season.
