Kögelehütte
3.7About
The hut is a working Alpine farm as well as a mountain accommodation. It sleeps around 30 guests in basic dorm and small private rooms. The kitchen serves hearty Tyrolean food, with dinner available on request and a simple breakfast included. There's no shower (wash stations only), and the hut operates on solar power and a small generator—expect basic mountain hut standards, not hotel comfort. The season runs June to September, with weekends busier than weekdays. The hut is managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV).
Book directly with the hut by phone or email several weeks ahead, especially for weekends and July-August. Many groups hike here as a day destination, so overnight beds fill quickly in peak season. The hut makes a good base for walking in the upper Ötztal and fits well into longer Ötztal circuits for fit parties. Phone ahead to confirm opening dates and meal availability.
