Langtalereckhütte

Langtalereckhütte sits at 2,430m in the Zillertal (Ziller Valley) east of the Tuxer Alpen. Most parties approach from the north via Tuxerbach and Langtaler Grund, a steady 4–5 hour ascent gaining roughly 1,400m. From the south, the hut is reachable via the Gunggl area, though this is longer. The location straddles the main ridge and makes a solid base for ridge walking and access to higher peaks including Wilder Freiger (3,418m).
The hut sleeps 93 across mixed dorm rooms and a few doubles. The DAV Sektion Karlsruhe keeps standards straightforward: expect solid mountain fare (self-catering options limited), hot showers (a rarity at this elevation), and drying rooms. The hut runs year-round, though winter access depends on snow conditions and your own winter mountain skills. Mobile coverage is patchy; there is no WiFi.
Phone the hut directly to book. July and August fill 6–8 weeks ahead. June and September are more relaxed. Winter bookings (December–March) need confirmation closer to the date since conditions vary. The hut sits at a junction of several valley routes, so weekends year-round see steady traffic. Call ahead even outside peak season if you have specific meal requests or need to arrange group rates.
