About
The Breslauer Hütte stands at 2,844 m in the Ötztal Alps, high above the mountaineering village of Vent in Tyrol. It is the principal base for climbing the Wildspitze (3,768 m), Tyrol's highest peak, and a key waypoint on classic Ötztal high routes and glacier tours. Owned by Sektion Breslau of the German Alpine Club (DAV), it is a genuine high-alpine shelter set among glaciated terrain. The hut has about 46 beds in rooms plus around 70 mattress-dormitory places, with catering, and it opens for the short summer high-mountain season from roughly mid-June to the end of September. From Vent (1,896 m) the walk up takes around three hours, climbing close to 950 m; using the Stableinbahn chairlift shortens this considerably, leaving only one to one-and-a-half hours of walking. From here mountaineers set off for the Wildspitze and neighbouring 3,000ers, so the hut has a serious alpine atmosphere. Much of the surrounding ground is glaciated, so onward routes require appropriate glacier equipment and experience. For hikers, though, the ascent from Vent is a rewarding non-technical high-mountain walk.

It is a summer-only high-alpine hut, open roughly from mid-June to the end of September, depending on snow conditions. Confirm dates with the hut before setting out.
The standard approach is from Vent, about three hours on foot with nearly 950 m of ascent. Using the Stableinbahn chairlift reduces the walk to around one to one-and-a-half hours.
The walk up from Vent is a demanding but non-technical mountain hike suitable for fit walkers. However, onward tours to the Wildspitze and neighbouring summits cross glaciers and require mountaineering skills, a rope and crampons.
The hut is staffed and catered during the season, serving warm meals and drinks, with beds in rooms and mattress-dormitory sleeping places for overnight guests and Wildspitze climbers.
