Lattenalm

Lattenalm sits at 1,680m in the Zillertal, a straightforward base for valley and ridge walking in central Tyrol. Reach it from Mayrhofen in roughly 2 hours on foot, heading up through mixed forest and alpine meadow. The hut is also accessible by mountain bike from the valley floor. Summer walkers use it as a staging point for day trips across the Zillertal ridge system or as an overnight stop on longer traverses toward the Zillertal Alpen.

The hut is run by the Zillertal Alpine Club and offers 40 beds in dormitory rooms and a handful of double rooms. Meals are straightforward: half-board or bed-and-breakfast deals, plus a simple lunch menu for passing hikers. The hut opens from early June through late September. Water and electricity are standard; expect basic mountain hut comfort without frills. WiFi is not available.

Book directly by phone or email from April onward if you're planning a July or August visit. June and September are quieter and bookable with less notice. Email or call at least two weeks ahead for weekends during peak season. The hut fills quickly on Saturdays when the weather is good. Half-board rates are moderate for the region.
