Württemberger Haus

Württemberger Haus sits at 2220m in the Zillertal, deep in the Zillertal Alps. The hut is reached from Mayrhofen via the village of Finkenberg, then by trail up the Zillergrund valley. Most parties hike the 5–6 hours from the roadhead at Überelend. The route follows a steady alpine track through forest and meadow before opening onto the high valley approach. Direct approach from Mayrhofen adds another 2 hours to the walk.
The DAV Sektion Stuttgart operates this straightforward mountain hut for walkers and climbers working the mid-altitude peaks around the Zillertal. It sleeps around 130 in mixed dormitories. The kitchen serves dinner and breakfast; packed lunches available. The hut has simple washing facilities and no shower. Cell reception is poor. Open mid-June through mid-October. The hut sits well for traverses toward the Brenner Pass or day walks to local peaks like the Habicht.
Book directly with the hut by email or phone. July and August are busy; book 8 weeks ahead for these months. June and September are quieter and more comfortable for staying multiple nights. The hut fills with German climbers on weekends, so aim for midweek visits if you want space and peace.
