Nassereither Alm (Muthenaualm)

Nassereither Alm sits at 1734m in the Ötztal valley, 15km south of Ötztal Bahnhof. Reach it from the village of Nassereith on the valley floor: follow the marked trail up the Niedertal valley for 2.5 hours. The route climbs steadily through mixed forest, gaining 800m elevation. You can also approach from Längenfeld via the Stubaier Gletscher road, then hike in from Vent. The hut is walkable as a day trip from the valley, but most hikers use it as a staging point for longer traverses in the region.
Nassereither Alm is a traditional working alpine dairy farm offering accommodation and meals. The hut sleeps around 20 people in simple dormitory rooms. Meals focus on hearty mountain food and dairy products made on-site. The hut operates year-round but is busiest in summer months (June to September). It's significantly quieter in shoulder seasons. Water and basic toilet facilities are available. There's no electricity in sleeping areas. The atmosphere is distinctly working farm rather than purpose-built hiking hut—expect livestock, hay, and the rhythms of alpine farming.
Contact the hut directly to book. Avoid July and August without a reservation made at least 4 weeks ahead. The hut can get crowded on weekends year-round. Email or phone ahead to confirm opening dates and current meal availability, as farm operations sometimes affect schedules. Payment is cash-preferred or bank transfer pre-arranged.
