Olpererhütte

Olpererhütte sits at 2,389m on the Zillertal's eastern ridge, above the village of Mayrhofen. Reach it from Mayrhofen in 2.5 hours via the Stillupptal valley, following the marked path through larch forest that opens onto high pasture. The hut is a solid base for day walks into the Zillertal Alps and acclimatisation before higher peaks. The DAV manages the hut and maintains well-marked routes radiating from it.

The hut holds 60 beds across mixed dormitories and a few doubles. Full-board meals are available—the kitchen produces reliable Alpine fare without fuss. Showers are available, which matters if you're spending multiple nights. The season runs mid-June to late September; it closes during winter and shoulder months. Staff here are straightforward and efficient. The hut operates a typical Alpine Club standard: clean, functional, geared toward walkers and climbers rather than leisure tourists.

Book directly with the hut by phone or email. July and August weekends fill 4-8 weeks ahead. June and September are less hectic but still book 2-3 weeks out for weekends. Mid-week slots throughout the season are usually available on shorter notice. Confirm opening dates before travelling in early June or late September, as snow can delay access.
