Sennhütte Jausenstation Falzturn

The Sennhütte Jausenstation Falzturn sits at 1087m in the Zillertal, a broad valley running south from Mayrhofen. It's accessible year-round as a day-walk destination from the village of Finkenberg, roughly 45 minutes uphill on well-marked trails. Most hikers approach from the Zillertal floor via the marked route through pastureland and larch forest. The hut serves as a natural stopping point on longer valley traverses and connects easily to higher alpine trails pushing toward the surrounding peaks.
This is a simple mountain dairy and refreshment station rather than an overnight refuge. The kitchen serves traditional Tyrolean fare—schnitzel, spetzle, and house-made butter and cheese—to day-hikers and local walkers. Portions are hearty and the prices reflect its role as a casual jausen stop. The hut operates year-round, though winter visits depend on snow conditions and access. Seating is modest, both inside and on the terrace overlooking the valley. No accommodation is available. Dogs are welcome.
