Stamser Alm

Stamser Alm sits at 1873m in the Pitztal, roughly 90 minutes' walk above the village of Arzl im Pitztal. The approach follows the main valley path, gaining 600m steadily through mixed forest and alpine meadow. The hut makes a natural base for day hikes across the Pitztal ridge system and access to peaks like Riffelspitze (2,858m). Summer routes to neighbouring huts like Plödern Alm link walkers into the wider Pitztal circuit.
Stamser Alm operates as a working dairy farm and simple mountain inn. The hut has capacity for around 30 guests in basic dormitory accommodation and a handful of double rooms. Meals centre on regional cooking—most guests eat the daily set menu rather than ordering à la carte. A working Alpine dairy occupies part of the building, adding to the hut's character. Water comes from the mountain spring. The season runs from June through September, with the hut often full during peak summer weeks and all of July.
Book by phone or email at least 4–6 weeks ahead if you're planning a July visit. Contact the hut directly rather than using booking platforms; the owners prefer direct arrangements. Arrive by 18:00 for dinner. The hut is not staffed year-round, so confirm opening dates before making the journey. Arzl im Pitztal has a small shop and petrol station but limited accommodation, so plan supply runs accordingly.
