Taschachhaus

Taschachhaus sits at 2,434m in the Ötztal, in the heart of the Ötztal Alps. The hut lies 4.5 hours' walk from Ötztal-Bahnhof station via Längenfeld and Ötztaler Straße to the valley trailhead, or 3 hours from Oetz if you start from higher up the valley. Most parties reach it in a long day from the valley floor. In winter, you'll need to approach from Vent, 2.5 hours uphill.
The hut offers 152 beds across mixed dorm and private rooms, giving it substantial capacity. The DAV Sektion München operates it year-round with a kitchen serving half-board and full-board options. You get WiFi here, which is reliable enough for basic use. The hut works as a base for touring routes in the Ötztal Alps and as a stage hut for multi-day treks. Summer climbing is secondary but possible from here.
Book direct by phone with Sektion München—don't rely on email. July through August fills quickly; reserve 6 weeks ahead for this period. June and September are quieter. Winter access is restricted to fit parties with guide experience on glacier terrain. The hut closes briefly in late April and November for maintenance.
