Trattenbach-Hochalm
3.6About
The hut is managed by the OeAV and operates as a simple mountain shelter with around 30 bed spaces. Meals are prepared daily during the season, with hearty traditional fare and adequate vegetarian options. Water comes from a spring. Facilities are basic: bunk beds with blankets, a communal dining room, and an outhouse. The hut opens from mid-June to mid-October. Winter closure is firm—do not plan on access outside this window. Mobile signal is weak to absent.
Book ahead during July and August, especially weekends. Contact the Mayrhofen tourist office or OeAV directly for current booking details and staffing dates. Arrive by late afternoon if you want hot food. Bring a headtorch and warm layers—nights cool quickly at this elevation even in summer.
