About
Wetterstein Hütte sits at 1717m on the northern flank of the Wetterstein range, above the village of Ehrwald in the Zugspitz region. Reach it from Ehrwald in 2.5 hours via the marked trail through meadows and larch forest, or from Lermoos in 3 hours. A cable car from Ehrwald cuts the approach to 1 hour of walking. The hut serves as a base for ridge traverses across the Wetterstein massif and approaches to Zugspitze's north face.
The OeAV-managed hut holds 80 beds in shared rooms. Meals are available for half-board guests; bring your own food otherwise. The hut has basic dormitory facilities, a dining room, and toilet/washing facilities. It opens year-round but runs on reduced capacity November to March. Staff can provide information on current conditions and trail difficulty.
Book directly with the hut from June onwards, especially for July and August weekends. Write to the contact address or call ahead. The hut fills quickly during the summer season and on fair-weather weekends in shoulder months. Arrival before 5pm ensures dinner service.
