Berggasthof Feuerkogel

Berggasthof Feuerkogel sits at 1,600m on the Feuerkogel massif above Ebensee in the Salzkammergut. Reach it from Ebensee village in 2.5 to 3 hours on foot via the marked trail up the Kreuzbauer slopes. A cable car runs from Ebensee to 1,350m (the Feuerkogel Bahn), cutting the approach to 30 minutes of walking. The hut works as a basecamp for ridge walks across the Feuerkogel range and as a waypoint on multi-day tours through the northern limestone Alps.
The hut serves hearty Austrian fare and drinks. Capacity is around 60 beds in basic but clean rooms. They have shower facilities and a dining room with views toward the Traunsee. The restaurant stays open year-round for day visitors, though it closes for a period in November. Overnight guests are welcome from spring through autumn, with peak use in July and August.
