Hochsalmhütte
2.5About
The hut is managed by the Austrian Alpine Club (OeAV) and offers around 100 beds across simple dormitories and a few double rooms. Meals are basic but adequate—dinner is served around 6pm, breakfast early. Kitchen facilities are limited for guests. Water comes from mountain springs. The hut runs from late May through September, with weekend staffing in shoulder months. Weather and snow can close routes in early summer and late autumn.
Book from early June onward for July and August weekends—contact the OeAV directly for reservations. The hut is moderately busy during school holidays. Mid-week visits and June or September trips mean easier availability. Phone or email ahead to confirm staff presence and current conditions, especially for shoulder-season visits. Half-board rates are the standard option.
