About
Polz Hütte operates year-round and sleeps 25 guests in basic dormitory accommodation. Meals focus on Austrian mountain fare: hearty soups, schnitzel, and local cheese plates. The kitchen produces good coffee and stocks Austrian beer. Tap water is reliable. Facilities are simple but clean—expect traditional bunk rooms and shared bathrooms. The hut has no electricity beyond basic lighting. Mobile reception is poor to absent. Camp stove use is prohibited; cook only on hut equipment.
Book directly by phone or through the Austrian Alpine Club (Österreichischer Alpenverein, OeAV) hut network. July and August fill 4–6 weeks ahead. April through June and September through October see steady demand but aren't as constrained. Winter weekends book 2–3 weeks ahead. The hut discounts stays for OeAV members. Confirm opening dates in late autumn before traveling.
