Inneralp

Inneralp sits at 1,209m in the Bregenzerwald, a limestone plateau in western Vorarlberg. From Bezau, take the minor road south toward Mellau, then branch east on the forest track toward Inneralp (6km, roughly 1.5 hours by car). The hut also works as a hiking destination: from Mellau allow 2.5 hours on foot; from Bizau allow 3–4 hours. Spring and early summer bring easier access once snow clears the higher approach routes. The hut makes a logical rest point on longer Bregenzerwald traverses.
Inneralp operates as a simple mountain inn with basic accommodation (around 30 beds across shared rooms), a restaurant serving regional Vorarlberg food, and modest facilities including hot showers and heating. The season runs May through October, though Easter holidays often extend the spring opening. Phone ahead to confirm opening dates in shoulder months. Staff can arrange packed lunches for onward hiking. The setting is pastoral rather than alpine—meadows and modest forested slopes, not dramatic peaks—which suits families and those hiking moderate distances.
Book accommodation 2–4 weeks ahead in summer. Contact directly by phone or email; the hut does not use online booking systems. July and August weekends fill quickly. Arrive early on Saturday if you haven't reserved ahead, or plan to eat and move on. The hut accepts dogs; ask about water availability during hot months.
