Neue Heilbronner Hut

Neue Heilbronner Hütte sits at 2,308m on the Säntis massif in eastern Vorarlberg, on the border between Austria and Switzerland. Reach it from the Appenzell Alps via the Säntis or from the Vorarlberg side. Most hikers approach from the west via Schäfler (1,785m), a 3-hour push to the hut. The location offers access to surrounding peaks and connects to through-hikes across the northeastern limestone Alps.
The hut holds 51 beds in mixed dormitories and runs year-round. Half-board is standard: evening meals and breakfast included with accommodation. The hut stocks basic supplies and drinks. Water comes from the hut's own spring. Winter access depends on weather and snow conditions. Cell reception is patchy. The DAV manages it through the Heilbronn section, ensuring solid maintenance and mountain hospitality standards.
Book 3–4 months ahead for summer weekends and all of July–August. Contact the hut directly by email or phone to reserve. July and August peak quickly. Winter climbers planning visits should confirm access conditions directly with the guardian before departure.
