Neuhornbachhaus

Neuhornbachhaus sits at 1700m in the Vorarlberg Alps, accessible from the Hornbach valley. The hut is a 2-hour walk from Eußerthal, making it an easy half-day approach. The trail follows the creek through mixed forest and opens onto alpine meadow as you gain height. Most hikers reach it in the morning and use it as a base for day walks across the surrounding ridges and peaks.
The hut sleeps 50 people in dorm and small private rooms. The kitchen serves breakfast and a three-course dinner. Hot showers are available. Water comes from the mountain spring. The season runs from June through September, with weekends open in May and October. The hut sits on the OeAV network, so membership gets you 10% off bed rates.
Call ahead to book, especially for weekends and July-August. Thursday to Sunday are busiest. The hut fills completely on fine-weather summer weekends, so ring 2-3 weeks ahead for July. Mid-week slots are usually available with less notice. Solo hikers and small groups can sometimes find space even during peak season if you're flexible on room type.
