Cabin du Guillermin

Cabane du Guillermin sits at 1,256m in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, on the eastern edge of Parc National des Écrins. The cabin serves as a base for routes into the Chaîne de la Labau and surrounding limestone peaks. Access is via the Durance Valley; most parties approach from the village of Guillestre, 30km south. A rough 4x4 track leads to a parking area; from there, hiking routes branch toward the cabin depending on conditions and your objective. Summer access typically takes 3–5 hours on foot from road-end.
The cabin is a simple mountain shelter offering basic dormitory accommodation for around 15–20 people. It has no warden, no meals provided, and no running water—you'll need to bring everything: a sleeping bag, food, water containers, and fuel for cooking. The toilet is outside. The building has a wood stove for heating. This is self-catering shelter mountaineering, not a staffed hut. Open year-round in theory, but winter access is serious and snow conditions dictate usability; summer (June–September) is the practical season.
Contact the FFCAM (Fédération Française des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne) or local guides in Guillestre for current access conditions, as the approach track can be impassable after heavy rain or during snow melt. There is no online booking system. Arrive with full self-sufficiency. This cabin suits experienced mountaineers comfortable with remote, unmaintained shelters.
