Cabin de St Clement

Cabane de St Clément sits at 1886m in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, deep in Parc National des Écrins territory. Approach via the Vallée du Drac from Corps—this is a solid 4 to 5 hour hike gaining 900m through forested slopes that open onto alpine pasture. The cabin works as a base for ridge walks north into the Chaîne de la Dent de Vaujany and for approaches to Mont Gioberney and the Pic de Gleize to the east. Summer scrambling and mountaineering routes dominate here; winter access depends on snow conditions and your ski touring ability.
The cabin is simple and traditional—expect dormitory sleeping for around 30 people, basic communal facilities, and a kitchen where you prepare your own food or arrange meals with the guardian. Water comes from a reliable spring nearby. The season runs from June through September, though shoulder months are weather-dependent. There is no electricity or gas heating; bring layers and a head torch. This is a working hut, not a hotel.

July and August are busy; aim to confirm your place at least one month ahead if you're coming then. Outside summer months, ring ahead to check the hut is staffed.
