Cabin Pastorale de l'Orgeas

Cabane Pastorale de l'Orgeas sits at 1,887m in the Alpes-Maritimes, in the high pastoral country between the Vallée de la Tinée and Vallée de la Vésubie. The cabin lies roughly 4–5 hours' walk from the nearest road access via the Boréon valley or from Auron. The approach crosses open alpine meadows and requires navigation skills—a map and compass or GPS are essential, as waymarking is minimal in places. This is backcountry hiking, not a groomed trail.
The cabin sleeps 6 in basic dormitory style. It has no running water, no electricity, and no guardian. You bring your own food and cook on a portable stove; there's a simple shelter and roof but expect cold nights and wind exposure. The setting rewards self-sufficiency: you're above the tree line with views across the Maritime Alps. Open roughly June to September depending on snow melt and conditions.

There is no online booking system—treat this as a wild hut requiring experience and proper preparation. Bring water, food, a stove, warm clothes, and a headtorch.
