Cabin Pastorale de Rougnouse Haute

Rougnouse Haute sits at 2050m on the eastern flank of the Alpes-Maritimes, deep in remote terrain between the Vallée de la Vésubie and the Parc National du Mercantour. Access requires 4–5 hours of hiking from Belvédère or Saint-Martin-Vésubie, gaining 1200m through steep forest and alpine pasture. The final approach crosses exposed terrain; navigation skills and good weather are essential. This is a mountain hut for experienced walkers, not a casual refuge.
The cabin sleeps 4 in basic dormitory conditions. It has a wood stove for heating, a small kitchen, and water from a nearby spring. The guardian operates seasonally—typically June through September, depending on snow melt and weather. You'll need to bring a stove and fuel for cooking unless you arrange meals in advance. There are no reliable supplies on-site; carry everything you need from the valley.

Booking is essential even for 4 beds; many weeks see only occasional use. This is not a destination for spontaneous visits. Allow 2–3 weeks notice minimum.
