Dahu de Sabarnui

Dahu de Sabarnui sits at 2,097m in the Alpes-Maritimes, deep in the Parc National du Mercantour. The hut sits above the Vallée de la Roya, a serious approach that demands good fitness and navigation skills. Most parties reach it in 4–5 hours from the nearest road access. The route is steep, exposed in places, and exposed to weather: come prepared with map, compass, and real mountain experience.

The hut sleeps 21 across mixed dormitories and a few private rooms. Meals are simple and substantial—dinner and breakfast included with your stay. The kitchen manages vegetarian requests if you tell them when you book. WiFi works here, which is unusual for this elevation and remoteness. Open June through September, weather permitting. The guardian closes the hut without notice if snow, wind, or other hazards make it unsafe.

Book direct by email or phone as far ahead as you can. July and August demand 4–6 weeks' notice. Shoulder months (June, September) need at least 2–3 weeks. Phone lines work unreliably at this elevation, so email is your safest bet. Expect to pay around €50–60 per night including meals. Confirm water availability and current approach conditions when you contact them: snowmelt and rockfall change things season to season.
