Cabin Becs de Bosson

Cabane Becs de Bosson sits at 2,985m in the Chaîne de Belledonne, east of Grenoble. Reach it in 3–4 hours from Allevard-les-Bains via the Pas de l'Infernet route, or 2.5 hours from Prapoutel-les-Sept-Lacs. The hut serves as a base for traverses across the Belledonne ridge and for ski touring in winter. Summer access is straightforward hiking; winter requires avalanche awareness and mountain sense. The final approach is steep and exposed in places.
The cabin is a small refuge run by volunteers, sleeping around 30 people in tight dormitory quarters. Meals are served on a half-board or full-board basis when staffed; the kitchen is simple but reliable. Water comes from snowmelt or spring sources depending on season. The hut opens year-round in principle but is reliably staffed July–September and weekends during the shoulder seasons. Winter visits need advance warning so the guardians can prepare. Pit toilets and no shower—bring wet wipes.
Email or phone ahead to check current staffing, especially outside peak summer. Book accommodation at least 2–3 weeks ahead in July and August. The hut fills quickly with ski tourers on spring weekends (April–May).
