Cabin du Mont-Noble

Cabane du Mont-Noble sits at 2,244m on the Mont-Noble massif in the Savoie region. The hut is a 2.5-hour walk from the hamlet of Nancroix (accessible by car from Champagny-en-Vanoise). The route climbs steadily through forest and alpine meadow, gaining roughly 600m. Winter access is possible but requires mountain skills and avalanche awareness. The cabin lies within the Parc National de la Vanoise, so check current park regulations before planning your trip.
This is a small, unmanned refuge managed by FFCAM (Fédération Française des Clubs Alpins et de Montagne). It sleeps around 20 people in basic dormitory conditions. There is no guardian on site, no meals, and no running water—you must bring drinking water or collect from nearby sources. A wood stove provides heating. The cabin is typically open from June through September; verify opening dates with the Chambéry section of FFCAM before heading up.
Book directly with Chambéry FFCAM section at least 2–3 weeks ahead, especially for July and August weekends. The hut gets busy during school holidays. Bring your own sleeping bag, mat, and food. The cabin has no electricity or gas cooking facilities; bring a camping stove if you plan to cook. This is a refuge for self-sufficient mountaineers, not a serviced hut.
