Cabane de l'A Neuve sits at 2,735m in the Chamonix valley, serving climbers and hikers approaching Mont-Blanc's southern approaches and the Aiguilles Rouges massif. Access is via the Vallée de la Chamonix trail system; most parties reach the cabin in 4 to 5 hours from Le Châtelard or nearby valley trailheads. The hut is managed by the CAS (Club Alpin Suisse), though it sits within French territory and draws international traffic during the summer season.
The cabin provides 28 beds across simple shared dormitory accommodation. Meals are served daily, with dinner and breakfast included in overnight rates; the kitchen can accommodate dietary requests if notified in advance. Drinking water is available from a natural source. Facilities are basic but functional: no shower, no electricity, no heating beyond what the stove provides. The hut opens from mid-June through September, weather permitting. This is a working alpine cabin, not a hotel, so expect mountain standard conditions.
Book directly by email or phone at least 4 to 6 weeks ahead for July and August. The cabin fills quickly during school holidays and good weather windows. Phone calls during daylight hours receive faster responses than emails. Cancellations happen regularly, so contact the hut directly if initial dates are full—staff can advise on availability. Arrive by early afternoon to settle in before dinner service.
