Cabin de Saleinaz CAS

Cabane de Saleinaz CAS sits at 2,691m on the Franco-Swiss border in the Mont-Blanc massif, managed by the Swiss Alpine Club (CAS). The hut anchors routes into the Chamonix Valley and the high peaks of the Vallée de Saleinaz. Most parties approach from Chamonix via the Mer de Glace tramway and the Montenvers trail, then climb onto the glacier approaches and onto the plateau—plan 4–5 hours from Chamonix. Winter and spring access requires glacier expertise and crevasse rescue competence. The hut also serves ski tours and mountaineering objectives including Mont-Blanc attempts from the Italian side.
The hut has 48 beds across shared dormitories. Evening meals and breakfasts are served; the kitchen does not offer self-catering. Water comes from meltwater sources. Heating is wood-fired. The hut operates from June through September in summer season, with limited winter weekends by arrangement. The position is exposed and windy—bring layers and expect altitude effects at this elevation.
Book directly by email or phone as far ahead as possible. July and August fill rapidly; 6–8 weeks notice is standard. The hut accepts reservations by the night. Confirm access conditions with the CAS before travel, as glacier routes change and crevasses open unpredictably.
