Cabin FXB Panossière

Cabane FXB Panossière sits at 2,641m in the Chaîne de Belledonne, above the Vallée de l'Isère. The standard approach is from Thémines via the Refuge de l'Alpe de Vaujany route, taking 3–4 hours of steady elevation gain. Most parties also use this hut as a base for traverses within the Belledonne massif or as a staging point for ski touring. Winter access is ski-only; summer hiking dominates from June through September.
The hut holds 75 beds across shared dormitories. A self-catering kitchen is available if you bring your own supplies, though the guardian usually provides meals on request—confirm what's on offer when you book. Water comes from a reliable source nearby. The hut stays open year-round, though staffing and services vary sharply between winter (ski mountaineers only) and summer (walkers and climbers). Expect basic mountain hut conditions: no showers, no electricity in rooms, and a cold dormitory environment.
