Cabin Rochefort

Cabane Rochefort sits at 1,388m in the Chaîne des Aravis, above the village of La Clusaz in Haute-Savoie. The approach takes 1 hour 45 minutes from the Parking de la Forclaz de Montmin (1,462m), following a well-marked trail through mixed forest and alpine pasture. The hut also connects to the GR5 long-distance trail, making it accessible from multiple directions. Summer hiking is straightforward; winter access depends on snow conditions and requires appropriate experience.
Cabane Rochefort is a small refuge managed by FFCAM volunteers, offering simple accommodation for 12–15 people in dormitory beds. Meals are not provided, so bring your own food or plan meals in nearby La Clusaz. The cabin has basic facilities: a wood stove, water from a nearby source, and pit toilets. It operates year-round, though conditions from November to April are winter-specific. This is a working hut frequented by local hikers and mountain runners rather than a formal staffed refuge.
