Chalet des Espagnols
2.6About
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 40 people in dormitory rooms. The guardian serves dinner and breakfast; half-board is standard but bed-only is available if you want to self-cater. Showers and toilets are basic. Mobile reception is patchy. The hut is managed by CAF (Club Alpin Français); it has the feel of a working mountaineer's base rather than a leisure destination.
Book at least two months ahead for July and August, especially if climbing Mont-Blanc in summer. Phone or email the hut directly to reserve; CAF membership is not required but members sometimes get priority or rate reductions. The hut fills quickly during good weather windows in June and September. Winter bookings are less competitive but verify conditions and access with the guardian first.
