Chalet des Espagnols sits at 2,040m on the north flank of Mont-Blanc massif, above the Vallée de Chamonix. Reach it from Chamonix town via the Montenvers train and trail network, or hike directly from Les Praz or Argentière (5–6 hours depending on route). Most alpinists use it as a staging post for Mont-Blanc ascents via the Three Monts route or Goûter approach, though summer hikers also base here for day trips around the Aiguilles Rouges. Winter access requires experience with snow and avalanche conditions.
The hut operates year-round and sleeps around 40 people in dormitory rooms. The guardian serves dinner and breakfast; half-board is standard but bed-only is available if you want to self-cater.
