Chalet du Col de l'Enclave
2.6About
The chalet is a working alpine refuge managed by the local hiking community. It has capacity for around 40 people in a mix of dormitory spaces and a handful of private rooms. Meals focus on hearty mountain food. Water comes from a reliable spring. The hut opens June through September, with peak use July and August. Outside these months, the building is locked. Winter conditions render the col inaccessible by foot from most directions.
Book 3–4 months ahead for July and August weekends. Contact the managing association directly through FFCAM or via the Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval tourist office. The col attracts serious hikers and mountaineers rather than casual visitors, so expect a working refuge atmosphere over luxury. No electricity or hot showers—plan accordingly.
